Team Noel

So, no more Oasis. Or is it just a publicity stunt? I don’t think so, to be honest. Mr. Gallagher was pretty pissed off with his little brother. And the fact that he is speaking of the great relief he felt, when he quit Oasis, sounds quiet convincing. I am Team Noel in this feud – even if I don’t know any of them in person. But I go for the person who actually wrote „Wonderwall“ and „Live Forever“ – even with the help of the Beatles -  and not the one who stands ridiciously at the microphone with his hands behind his back and looking up – like a little bird waiting to be fed.  Come to think of it, that is just the picture – Liam Gallager always acted like a spoiled brat.  All this „look at me, look at me“ thing. To be fair, Noel Gallagher on the other hand overstretched his „too cool for school“ attitude. Anyway, now they don’t have to deal on a professional basis with each other – and maybe some day they can talk to each other in a nice way.

I am not alone in „Team Noel“ – most of the music press in the UK have hopped on this side. But, before they jumped, they did a good slagging off. Most of them said that even though Oasis has been the most important band of the nineties, their best years have long been over.  And so good riddance to them. I think it’s quite harsh. I enjoyed the last album very much and Noel Gallagher is still quite capable of writing good songs. Not world changing songs, but songs I put on heavy rotation on my iPod. So I wish him well, and even Liam. Now he can do his own thing, design clothes , attend pottery courses, whatever. And relax. But I have a slight suspicion that this will be a difficult task for the young Gallagher.
